For high protein smoothies you need nutrient-dense fruits and numerous high protein add-ins to make you feel the burst of energy and vitality.

Here are some smoothies to give you a generous helping of extra protein:

Flaxseed Berry Blast

Combining ground flaxseed with fresh berries will not only give you a generous serving of protein but will also provide you with extra fiber and vitamin C which your body requires. Adding Greek yogurt to the mix will improve the taste of the smoothie and will increase the protein content a great deal. It will also up the ante on calcium content.

  • ½ cup blueberries
  • ½ cup blackberries
  • ½ cup strawberries
  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp. ground flaxseed

Place all three kinds of berries into the blender first. Next add the yogurt and the flaxseed to the blender. Blend until the mixture is smooth. If the consistency is too thick then add ½ of a fruit juice of your choice to the mixture and blend again.

Peanut Butter Strawberry Splendor

When you think of protein sources one of the first that may come to mind is that of peanut butter. This smoothie will supply you with a good sized helping of protein and if you like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches then you will be in seventh heaven after one sip! Peanut butter can enhance the flavor of the smoothie tremendously. Strawberries are an excellent source of vitamin C and also have plenty of fiber to offer you as well.

  • ½ cup frozen strawberries
  • ½ cup strawberry juice (or strawberry blend juice)
  • 2 tbsp. peanut butter

Pour strawberry juice into the blender and follow it up with the frozen strawberries and the peanut butter. Blend the mixture until it reaches the desired smoothie consistency. If you wish to have a protein smoothie with even more protein then add a couple of tablespoons of plain or vanilla Greek yogurt.

Cranberry Almond Delight

When paired together almonds and cranberries are very tasty. They are also very nutritious in a smoothie and can give you a boost of protein in every sip. Almond butter is a high energy addition that is very flavorful and combines well with these two ingredients.

  • ½ cup cranberry juice
  • ½ cup blueberries or blackberries (your choice)
  • 1-2 tbsp. almond butter
  • 2-3 tbsp. plain or vanilla Greek yogurt

Puree all ingredients in the blender and puree until the concoction is somewhat of a chunky texture.
