Add Vegetables To Your Breakfast With Delicious Green Smoothies

breakfast green smoothieIf you are concerned about getting the recommended daily servings of vegetables in your diet, you should consider adding vegetables with your breakfast with a green smoothie. Green smoothies are blended drinks that combine leafy greens with fruits, veggies and healthy fats, such as almonds, hemp seeds, flax and coconut. Green smoothies are a healthy and delicious way to get an energy boost and much-needed nutrients.

The most popular leafy greens used in green smoothies are spinach, kale, rainbow or Swiss chard, mint, parsley and collard greens. Many smoothie recipes also call for nut milks like almond milk, Brazil nut milk or cashew milk, which are healthy, dairy-free alterative to standard milk. While many people prefer to use fresh, raw ingredients, some people like the thicker, ice cream-like texture that can be achieved by using frozen fruits and vegetables.

Green smoothies contain high amounts of fiber, which offer many benefits to the body. Fiber has been shown to lower cholesterol and glucose levels, reducing your risk of heart disease and diabetes. Fiber also regulates your body’s cleansing processes and keeps you feeling fuller for longer, which will reduce overeating and snacking on unhealthy snack foods. The fruits and vegetables used in green smoothies are also chock full of important vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A, vitamin C, folate and potassium.

There are a number of recipes available for green smoothies and each one can be easily modified to suit your particular tastes. For athletes, you can add ingredients that increase the amount of protein in the smoothie. For kids, you can add more fruits to hide the taste of the green vegetables.

Adding ingredients that sweeten the green smoothies will make them taste better and go down easier. You do not have to add sugar or artificial sweeteners to the smoothies to make them sweet. Adding fruits to the smoothie gives the drink additional sweetness in a natural way. This can make your smoothie a delicious, super-nutritious, whole-food meal.
