Juicing is the act of liquefying fruits or vegetables via a juicing machine or blender. Using a juicer allows you to extract as much juice from the product as possible. Using a blender retains the fiber of the produce and makes juice that is significantly thicker than what you get with a juicer.

Deciding what to juice is not a problem for most people. Nearly any fruit or vegetable can be juiced and the juice will retain many of the nutritional properties of the original fruit or vegetable. To get the best produce for juicing, many juicing experts recommend purchasing produce that is 100% organic and locally grown. This will limit your exposure to pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals while providing you with produce that is at the peak of freshness and nutritional value.

In most cases, fruits and vegetables are juiced separately. The exception is apples which are typically used in vegetable juice recipes to reduce the bitterness and improve the taste of the juice. Because apples are so compatible with vegetables, they can be combined with nearly any vegetable combination to make a juice that is both tasty and nutritionally dense.

The most easily digestible vegetables to juice are celery, fennel, and cucumbers. Many people also like to juice red leaf lettuce, green leaf lettuce, romaine lettuce, endive and spinach. More advanced juicers may want to try mixtures containing cabbage, Chinese cabbage, Bok Choy kale, collard greens, dandelion greens, and mustard greens. Carrots can also be added to your juice recipes to make the taste of green juice more mild.

Cucumber – 2 Whole

Directions

Process all ingredients in a juicer, shake or stir and serve.
