Vegetable Juicing

With juicing, you can consume more vegetables than you would normally and expand the variety of vegetables that you eat. Juices made from fresh fruits and vegetables are very perishable so it is best to drink all of your juice immediately after it is made. The juice that you make should be consumed 20 minutes before a meal or 2 hours after a meal to allow the juice to fully digest. If you must store your juice for any length of time, store it in a lidded airtight container filled to the top. Trapped oxygen will oxidize the juice and degrade its nutritional content.

Juicing For Health

There are many juicing recipes available that are geared towards specific health benefits, such as reducing muscle pain or improving cardiovascular health. While juicing should not be used in place proper medical care, it can relieve the symptoms of a wide variety of conditions. Before beginning a juicing regimen aimed at improving your health, you should consult with your physician, especially if you are taking any medications on a regular basis. Some medications cannot be taken with certain vegetables and it is important to know this before consuming juice made from these vegetables.

Romaine-Apple-Orange Juice Recipe

Ingredients

Apples (granny smith) – 2 medium
Celery – 2 stalk, large
Cucumber – 1/2 cucumber
Lettuce (romaine) – 2 cup
Orange – 1 fruit peeled

Directions

Process all ingredients in a juicer, shake or stir and serve.
