Day 3 of 7 Day Juice Fast

day three of juicing lastMaking it through the first three days of a juice fast is supposed to be the hard part. I woke this morning with tons of energy. After my morning litre of water, I juiced an orange, an Apple,  a pear, a kiwi fruit and a few organic carrots. This particular morning juice recipe is delicious and nutritious. It’s easy to overdo it with sweet fruit, so this is not a recipe that I use often. But, today it hit the spot.

We decided to take a day trip today and explore a few areas that we wanted to consider for vacation. This is a mistake that I won’t make again. We were gone approximately 6 hours, and drove a couple hundred miles. I did not see a place that would make me a glass of fresh juice. I had a bottle of water during that time and that wasn’t enough. Lesson learned. That’s too long of a period of time to be away from nourishment.

Needless to say that when we arrived home I made a beeline for the juicer. I had been thinking about a recipe that I wanted to try all day. This recipe was born out of one of the soups that I frequently make and love.

It consisted of the following:

1- large tomato

1-sweet potato

1- beet

3- carrots

a clove of garlic

a couple of slices of red onion

and a handful of fresh basil leaves.

This juicer recipe is definitely one that I will use again. For those of you that might be experimenting with juice recipes, consider this. If you like the whole foods in their cooked form, then chances are you will like them juiced. That’s not always the case, but more often than not that’s what I have found. From there, it’s just like cooking. Experimentation and trying different fruits and vegetables together to find a juice that you really enjoy. Cooking is about choosing the freshest, best ingredients you can. Juicing is no different.

As for making it through the first three days being the hardest part? Honestly, it is not been hard for me at all. Perhaps later this week it will be. I suppose part of that is that I am very motivated to accomplish what goals I have. I want to be blood pressure medication free. I want to be cholesterol medicine free. And, I want to do those things weighing 225 pounds!
