Why You Should Try Juicing Strawberries

strawberriesStrawberries are great fruits for juicing. Plain strawberry juice is healthy, but many people like mixing the strawberries with other ingredients, such as bananas, kiwis, or oranges, to create deliciously flavored juices packed with vital vitamins and minerals. Unlike fruit juice purchased in the store, homemade fruit juice does not contain added sugar or added preservatives.

Making juice from fresh fruit is a healthy way to get a large amount of essential nutrients into your body. Strawberries are generally juiced whole, minus the leaves attached to the crown of the strawberry. Because the entire fruit is used, strawberries do not lose many nutrients when juiced.

Strawberries are a good source of vitamin C. The consumption of adequate amounts of vitamin C is important to a healthy immune system. Vitamin C also helps the body produce collagen, which is important for wound healing and healthy skin. Adult men need 90 mg of vitamin C each day and adult women should get 75 mg daily. A serving of strawberry juice made from a cup of pureed strawberries has around 136 mg of vitamin C.

Strawberries are also a good source of fiber. Fiber aids in digestion and helps regulate a healthy cholesterol level. It also can prevent and treat constipation. Because fiber digests slowly, it helps you with appetite control and will leave you feeling full for longer. A cup of pureed strawberries contains nearly 5 g of fiber. Women should get 22 to 28 g of fiber each day and men should get 28 to 34 g each day.
