juice recipes for cold and fluJuicing for the common cold and juicing for other types of respiratory problems can help get you back on the road to recovery as quickly as possible. No one ever enjoys being sick after all so finding effective means of getting better needs to make it high up on your priority list. When you juice raw vegetables and fruits, and in particular when you use organic produce, you receive a healthy influx of the substances your body needs to get better quicker, such as various vitamins and minerals.

The common cold is not just something that you can pick up just during the winter months. The viruses that cause colds are around all 12 months of the year. There are many different strains of the common cold as well as influenza which explain why you may end up getting sick a few times throughout the year.

All a head cold really is is a viral infection that has affected your airways. To get rid of it as fast as possible you need to supplement your diet with what it needs to strengthen and fortify your immune system. You should also supplement your diet to act as a preventative measure. Nutritious juicing practices can go a long way in helping to keep you as healthy and as free of sickness as possible!

Take Garlic for a Cold

If you eat garlic regularly then you are taking a smart step in the direction of protecting your health against catching the common cold. If not then start breaking up garlic cloves and juicing them in your juicing processor right away. Fresh garlic added to recipes is a good idea when you feel like you are coming down with something. You might also want to buy a high quality garlic supplement from the store such as allicin garlic.

Fresh garlic contains antibacterial properties that help to defend the body against cold and flu viruses that threaten the health of your body. Garlic provides an unfriendly environment for a virus to remain in. This is exactly what you want.

When you make your own fresh raw juice at home you provide your body with more nutrients to fight with. This does your body so much good! Juicing is good for so many things, weight loss, lack or energy and as a form of detoxification. It is also good at fighting cold viruses!

Garlic may be a good defender against a cold or the flu but it does have a strong taste that does not appeal to everyone. To avoid this add it a vegetable juice that you are making or a green juice. A clove or two of garlic should be enough. Garlic and citrus based juices such as apple or orange do not work well together so it is recommended that you stick with natural vegetable juice. You could add garlic to carrot juice for instance and it would combine with this vegetable very well.

Some herbs that help to fight colds that can be added to raw juice made at home include:

  • Astralagus
  • Echinacea
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Ginger
  • Peppermint
