Day 4 of 7 Day Juice Fast
It was back to school around our house this morning on day 4 of my 7 day juice fast, although no one seem to remember that. I was up early, so I made some fresh orange juice for the girls, and slipped in a few carrots, but no one seemed to notice. I drank my usual litre and a half of water, and decided it would be a good idea for me to go on a bike ride.
There are those that suggest you should abstain from vigorous cardio-type exercise while you’re on a juice fast. Still others, say exercise is fine. I completed my 13 1/2 mile ride in an hour and felt great until the last 2 miles when it felt like my legs might stop working. I made it through and got home safely. I quickly showered and could not wait to get to my juicer. I was famished.
I decided yesterday that today would be an all vegetable day. I juiced a mango last night and I felt like that was enough sugar for the rest of the week so I decided to stay away from fruit for today. the following juicer recipe was my morning juice.
3 leaves of Lacinato Kale
3 leaves of Green Kale
1 tomato – yes technically a fruit I know.
For some reason, I was hungry again in about two hours. I had another bottle of water and decided I would hold off on any more juice for a bit. For the first time since I started my seven day juice fast, I found myself thinking about chewing food. It seems everywhere I looked there was food looking back at me that wasn’t juice.
Today was more difficult than any of the previous days. I think what makes it tougher is that I am the cook in the house and I still cook regular meals for everybody else. Typically I’m sipping on a juice while doing so but today was quite a challenge. However, I did make it through the day and my seven day juice fast continues. I am over halfway through now and finish line is in sight. Honestly, I have thought about what I might eat after my seven day juice fast is complete.
Tomorrow is my weigh-in day. I’m not certain how much weight I have lost, but I know I have lost some. I try not to focus on the scale as much as I try to focus on the program and what I am trying to accomplish. I have a theory, that if I do the things I know to do with juicing and my whole foods plant based diet the scale would take care of itself.
